Oculi Occultati Unboxing

So, some of you know I have a new witchy neighbour here in the Huon Valley. Avalon Cameron, notorious tarot nerd.

Not only is this very good news in general but it is also very good news in the specific situation of when your Scarlet Imprint package arrives and you are looking for someone else to be as excited as you are to unbox it.

Let's cut to me outside the post office, mysterious box in hand, firing up Whatsapp.

So I was expecting an entirely different package at the post office and figured it was a whistlestop trip into town, which means I was dressed in farm garb rather than "oh, I'm on someone else's YouTube channel and should probably look a bit fancy" garb. But it was a tarot emergency, so what happened happened. Here is the unboxing.

If we were to shoot this again, I would change several things. Firstly, the ensemble (obviously). Secondly, I would have done more than a single second's research into this amazing deck before we hit the record button. But, after the Sola Busca, whatever Peter and Alkistis are serving in card land, I am very much eating. So, in the video, you get a very raw and excited discovery of the cards. Maybe that is how it is supposed to be. Maybe I actually wouldn't change that.

As for my enduring observations, I absolutely keep coming back to the suit of cups. Once I'm clear of the Q3 Magical Geography course, best believe I will dive into those images and that colour in a journeying capacity. There is something about that suit in particular that puts me in mind of some of my own undersea/dare-I-say-Atlantean journeying experiences, as well as some of Josephine McCarthy's guided meditations, particularly in Magic of the North Gate. It is very, very much my vibe.

This deck is a no-holds-barred, creative masterpiece of arresting and often highly erotic imagery. It is a tarot for the experienced practitioner. (No LWB!) Perhaps I would push that statement even further. This might be the most advanced deck I have ever had the pleasure of not-yet-actually-using. It challenges you to both have an understanding of the 'traditional' attributions of the cards as well as the fortitude to completely abandon said attributions in the face of some extremely potent, artistic interpretations.

Anyway, please do watch the video to see a couple of tarot nerds absolutely gushing at this remarkable production. And please do investigate the deck for yourselves. It really is an astounding achievement.
